DEAR MR. K
Behind the songs
A personal project about relationships, expectations and understanding.
Parts 1–10 tell one connected story. For the mixtape, I chose Parts 1–4 and Part 7. Dear Mr. K begins with a question; Part 10 is my final answer. Perhaps the way to the answers was never somewhere out in the world, but closer to ourselves.
Writing & rewriting
The associations, sketches, storylines, thoughts and images began with me. The final written wording was refined with help; it is not exclusively my own. While recording, I rewrote entire parts and sequences. The lyrics below preserve the written version and its original intention, so they can differ from the recording.
Recording & finding the sound
The recording and editing process felt like an odyssey: intermediate parts bounced out of alignment, beat sequences were lost, and lyrics disappeared from the final master of “In Times”. Choosing the tracks that meant the most to me was part of that process. It deepened my respect for independent artists.
I recorded the vocals in summer with the Shure SM7B, shaped by what I knew at the time. For mixing, I used the Neumann NDH 30, with Neumann RIME and CLA Nx as references. These tracks close a period of practice and mark the point from which my voice, pronunciation and production can keep growing.

Original English lyrics · Written version
I know that you tried, darling
I know that you fought, darling
But when the cold gets loud, darling
Let the rain fall soft 'n' light, darling
I know where you wanna go
I've seen the road you're reaching for
I gave you something you could hold
And I've been holding this too long
Let it rain, let it pass
Some things change, some things last
No hard feelings, no parade
Step by step, you're on your way
Let it be, let it breathe,
Ain't no need to disagree
I moved quiet, not away
That's all it means, Dear Mr. K
Played a song for my father, he said, "yeah, that's good"
Mama heard the same words, had to pause where she stood
Same four minutes, but they landed in different hands
Some people hear a song, some people hear the man
I ain't mad at different ears, every heart got pace
Some need years to read what others catch in a face
I been writing from the rooms I was scared to name
Made a language out of scars I could finally claim
I've seen love get mistaken for a name and a label
Seen gold turn a home into a beautiful cage
Seen smart men miss grief sitting right at the table
Then call it simple 'cause they couldn't read a single page
I know the one you’re gonna be
Not if you search not if you seek
I’ve seen a way where no-one hides
Where you’ll be seen and no-one fights
I know where you wanna go
I've seen the road you're reaching for
I gave you something you could hold
And I've been holding this too long
Let it rain, let it pass
Some things change, some things last
No hard feelings, no parade
Step by step, you're on your way
Let it be, let it breathe,
Ain't no need to disagree
I moved quiet, not away
That's all it means, Dear Mr. K
Go on, your heart knows
Go on the way no-one goes
Hold on, someone knows
You ain’t somebody that gon leave along way
Some people turn to chapters that the years can't throw away
I saw you hold your dreams, they were heavy in your hands
Tryna find yourself before you knew where to stand
She got a heart that hears what people hide
Reads the little cracks when the room still looks fine
Some souls hear the weather fore it turns to rain
And I respect the way she understands your name
This ain't here to pull you from the ones you love
It's here to put some meaning in the space we never touched
'Cause being close don't mean that people feel seen
And sometimes real love lives in the things in between
I keep a keychain, just a little metal thing
It watches over me like it remembers everything
Not 'cause of what it costs, but what it came to mean
A small piece of your heart in the pocket of my jeans
If you ever play this with the one you hold close
I hope it brings you nearer, not a reason to oppose
She ain't here to take a side, she only feels what people miss
Some hearts hear your silence that gon never reach your lips
I ain't here to teach you like I got it all right
I do meet my own shadow when it steps into the light
I don't trust my hurt when it starts sounding wise
Pain can wear a halo when it wants to be right
They hear love and start searching for a label
I hear love and see a human at the table
I don't need the world to make my heart explainable
I just need the ones I love to know it's unmistakable
So when I move quiet, don't mistake it for a wall
I was never gone, I just stopped trying to call
Some people need the noise, I need meaning in the space
And if you know me, you know I never loved halfway
And if she hears the parts that I could never fully say
I hope it brings you closer, not a reason to look away
You got a woman by your side who hears the room go thin
Don't make her beg for depth when she already lets you in
So let this be a letter, not a line drawn in sand
I hope you keep your softness while you learn to understand
May the ones you love feel safe inside of your name
And if you ever need me, I'll be quiet, not away
I know that you tried, darling
I know that you fought, darling
But when the cold gets loud, darling
Let the rain fall soft 'n' light, darling
